One of the driving forces behind L.A. Zoo Lights has been 4th District City Councilmember LaBonge, who wanted to partner with GLAZA to provide Angelenos with a holiday experience to replace the beloved LA DWP “Festival of Lights,” which ended its run in Griffith Park in 2008. And what better location than the beautiful L.A. Zoo?
Gregg Lacy has made a name for himself in the theater and music worlds as a conceptual, inventive, hands-on set designer and artist. “I wake up and get to create something new every day – having a blast the whole time,” Lacy says. For L.A. Zoo Lights, he’s teamed up with John McGuire of lighting design firm Bionic League, famed for their work for Daft Punk, Nike, Target and others.
